Sewer Lining & Duct Restoration for Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities

Healthcare facilities can't afford extended shutdowns. Whether it's a hospital, outpatient clinic, or long-term care center, your infrastructure needs to be repaired quickly, cleanly, and without disrupting patients, staff, or operations.

Trenchless Innovations has worked with hospitals and healthcare facilities across the Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana, providing trenchless sewer lining and above-ground duct restoration that gets the job done without tearing apart ceilings, walls, or floors. Our no-dig, no-demolition process means your facility can remain operational — often throughout the entire repair.

FAQs Sewer & Duct Restoration for Healthcare Facilities

The Two Biggest Infrastructure Problems We Solve for Healthcare Facilities

Aging & Deteriorating Sewer Lines

Many hospitals and healthcare facilities in the Chicago area were built with cast-iron sewer pipes that are now decades old. Over time, cast iron thins, corrodes, and deteriorates from the inside out — leading to slow drains, backups, and in some cases, complete pipe failure.

Traditional repair means physically removing those pipes, which are typically located behind walls, beneath floors, or in areas that simply cannot be taken offline. Our trenchless sewer lining process inserts a durable liner directly into the existing pipe, sealing cracks, restoring flow, and reinforcing the pipe wall — all without cutting open a single wall or ceiling.

We've performed emergency overnight sewer lining jobs for hospital cafeterias where traditional contractors were forced to keep digging as additional pipe failures were discovered. Our process stops the chase entirely — one liner, one visit, back in service.

Above-Ground Duct Encapsulation & Restoration

Healthcare facilities — particularly operating rooms, procedure suites, and patient care areas — have strict air quality requirements. When above-ground ductwork lined with fiberglass or other materials begins to deteriorate, airborne fibers and debris can enter the ventilation stream, creating a serious patient safety and compliance concern.

We encapsulate and restore above-ground duct systems using Duct Armor, an environmentally friendly, water-based, non-toxic rubberized liner that seals the interior of the duct and prevents further material from entering the airstream. We have performed this work directly adjacent to active operating rooms — completing the restoration quickly and without the need for ceiling or wall demolition.

For facilities with transite pipe (which may contain asbestos fibers), we also provide encapsulation services that seal the pipe interior and eliminate fiber release.

How We Minimize Disruption to Your Facility

We understand that a hospital is not a job site — it's a place where people depend on you. Here's how we protect your operations throughout every project:

We bypass, not shut down. For sewer lining projects, we coordinate with your facility's plumbing team to bypass the affected line before we begin. Water flow is maintained throughout the repair. When we're done, the line goes right back into service.

No demolition. No reconstruction. All of our work is performed through existing access points. We do not cut open ceilings, walls, or floors. Your facility maintenance team or their contractors handle any access preparation — we come in, do the lining, and leave the space as we found it.

We work around your schedule. We offer overnight, weekend, and off-hours scheduling for projects where daytime access isn't possible. Our hospital cafeteria sewer project is a good example — we coordinated an overnight job so the cafeteria could reopen the next morning.

We work with your team. Most large healthcare facilities work with a dedicated facility maintenance company rather than an in-house maintenance crew. We're experienced working alongside those teams — coordinating access, communicating timelines, and keeping your facilities director informed at every step.

What to Expect: Our Process

Day 1 — Inspection, Cleaning & Measurement We begin with a full HD camera inspection of the affected sewer lines or ductwork. Your facility team receives a complete video recording and written report detailing our findings and recommended scope of work. The cleaning and measuring process causes no disruption to facility operations.

Day 2 (and Day 3 if needed) — Lining & Restoration We install the liner through existing access points using an attached camera to monitor progress in real time. For sewer lines, the bypass keeps water flowing throughout. For above-ground duct work, we encapsulate the duct interior with Duct Armor. Most projects are complete in one to two installation days.

Back in Service Once the liner cures, the system is returned to full service. There is no reconstruction, no patching, and no lingering mess. Our air duct restorations carry a life expectancy of 30 to 50 years and are backed by a 15-year transferable warranty while our sewer lining projects are backed by a 50- year transferable warranty.

Emergency Sewer Lining for a Hospital Cafeteria

A hospital in the Chicagoland area was experiencing repeated sewer failures beneath its cafeteria kitchen. A traditional contractor had been on-site digging, but every time they repaired one section of pipe, the next section failed. The cafeteria was shut down, and the project was escalating in both cost and time.

Trenchless Innovations was called in to take over. We coordinated an overnight mobilization, lined the deteriorating sewer runs without any additional excavation, and had the line back in service before the cafeteria reopened the next morning. The trenchless approach stopped the chain of failures entirely.
